DO YOU KNOW?!!!

Just like the biblical saying…’My people perish because they lack knowledge’.

Information is knowledge and knowledge is power; if you are exposed to a wealth of positive information in life you will be powerful. So many people would have done a lot of things better in life if they had access to the right information. As a member of a great business club like Carbon Credit Network, there are several information and education we need to be aware of about our Green products in other to have confidence and trust in them and to be able to pass same across to the general public.  So many questions and issues are to be answered and need to be tackled in other to make health and environmental hazards a thing of the past and also not healthy for the growth of the business. Taking an instance, there are several factors that may influence the reasons why bonuses are being delayed, misconceptions and confusions about our Green products especially the biogel, A lot of our Ambassadors do not know that they will need to update their bank account details after activating by picking up their green packs, taking into consideration that they have to update this with the new NUBAN account number and also making sure that the name on their account numbers tallies with the one that is used to register as a Green Business owner. The issue of unpaid bonuses also comes with the fact that ambassadors fail to do their 1CC and 100COP each month as requested by CCN policy, this if not done can hinder bonuses and incentives being paid into the bank accounts. This among several other reasons why it is expedient for Ambassadors to always make it a point of duty to attend trainings, seminars and workshop in other to have enough information about the Green products which should in turn help the growth and sustainability of their Green business. Surfing and browsing to get first hand information from the internet about climate change, effects of fossil fuels, green house gases and carbon emissions will also aid our understanding about our health and environmental issues.

Green is the future and the future is now we are on a great mission to switch over a million households to clean, safe and affordable cook stoves. ASUU Palava

My name is Paula, am a final year student of Osun State University, after staying at home for 112 days because of the on-going ASUU strike. And my elder sister was tired of giving me money all the time, decided to register me as a Green Ambassador. At first I was angry with the decision, but I figured what will I lose, let me give it a try. Before I got the products, I told everybody in my neighbourhood, I also told my aunties. I was shocked at their response; they showed so much interest and eagerness to see the product.

When I finally bought my Green Pack from Alagbado centre, but before then let me digress a little, I came for a seminar at the Green Place in Ikeja, more things became clear to me about the products and its environmental impact. So when I got the products, I was so excited. My Aunty Kike's place was the first place I went to, she bought 1 stove and 2 5litres gel. My other aunties also bought their own products as well, my neighbours bought the remaining products.

I bought my Green Pack on Tuesday and by Wednesday afternoon have finished selling all the products. With my money in my pocket, not all my money, I did not tell you that I borrowed half of the money from my sister. You should have seen the shakara I did when I was returning her money.

I felt empowered not only am I now a Green Entrepreneur, am also an Environmental activist. Helping to clean the environment.

Run, Run Its Carbon

Kerosene is a type of fuel oil used for lighting, heating and cooking. Like many fuel oils, it is derived from crude oil. Kerosene is a liquid at room temperature, but it can evaporate; therefore, people can be exposed to kerosene by getting it on their skin or by inhaling the fumes. Direct exposure to the kerosene or a byproduct of burning the kerosene, such as carbon monoxide, can produce negative health effects. These include:

Health
Smoke from kerosene lamps is responsible for respiratory infections, lung and throat cancers, serious eye infections, cataracts as well as low birth weights. Acute respiratory infections like influenza and pneumonia kill nearly 2 million children in developing nations each year, more than the annual number of all deaths at all ages from all causes in the European Union. The World Bank estimates that   780 million women and children breathing kerosene fumes inhale the equivalent of smoke from 2 packs of cigarettes a day. Shockingly, two-thirds of adult female lung-cancer victims in developing nations are
non-smokers.

Fire Danger
Kerosene and candles cause countless fire catastrophes every year. There were 282,000 deaths from fire-related burns worldwide in 1998, and 96% of these fatalities were in developing countries. In India alone, 2.5 million people (350,000 of them children) suffer severe burns each year, primarily due to overturned kerosene lamps. Each year, many homes burn to the ground when a lamp is toppled.

Barrier To Education And Production
Light from Kerosene lamps is poor and inefficient (only 2 to 4 lumens compared to a 60-watt bulb-900 lumens). Poor lighting affects literacy and education. The light from the lamps is so poor that children can only see their schoolbooks if they are almost on top of the flame, directly inhaling even more of the toxic smoke. Proper lighting can enhance the development process by enabling people to be more productive after the sun goes down.

Economic Costs
A study produced by Evan Mills (2002) found that: one kerosene lamp consumes 0.04 to 0.06 litres per hour, and the daily usage at three to four hours. 1 litre of kerosene per week x $1.00 USD= $52.00USD/year. Many households in the developing world require 2 or more kerosene lights therefore this cost can more than double. The escalating costs of providing energy drain money away from food, health services, housing, and other basic needs in poor countries.

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning
According to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, carbon monoxide poisoning is more common among kerosene heater users than poisoning from breathing the fumes. Carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning's first symptoms include fatigue and possibly chest pain, followed by dizziness, nausea, confusion and lack of coordination. Carbon monoxide poisoning can be fatal. If anyone in your house starts feeling unwell while the kerosene heater is being used, turn off the heater and move everyone in the house to a location with plenty of fresh air---outdoors if possible.

CCN SUCCESS STRATEGY

"Whatever the mind of man can conceive and believe, it can achieve." A quote by Napoleon  Hill, I came across this quote why reading online. Then it hit me, that we are stronger and  smarter than we know or think. That we can achieve more and do more if only we know how powerful we really are. Most times the reason why we don't achieve our goal is very simple, I mean very very simple as simple as ABC, we don't believe in ourselves and in our abilities. Let me share a story with you, to help you understand what am talking about.

When I started working at CCN, one of my very first assignment was to understand the whole  system and how it works. My boss spent few minutes explaining it to me and I was told to read the rest and understand it. As a new employee I read it up and I finally understood the concept. Few days later I was told to explain it to a new member. I did all the best I could explaining to the member, have in mind that the new member is an elder woman so I had to be very patient and call her "Mama". But unknown to me, she was a very smart woman, who kept asking questions that almost made me doubt my understanding of the whole program. Long story short, she signed up, two days later, she picked up her GREEN PACK. Two weeks later she had 10 members under her, 7 had picked their GREEN PACK. I was so surprise, I had to call Mama up, she came to the office and started explaining the reason for her fast growth. She said it was not by accident, that all she did was look at her "area", identified those that where either single, educated, married or had no job. If you fall in this category she call you to her house and start explaining everything I discussed with her. I don't need to tell you how much "Mama" earned that month, because "Mama" did not tell me.

Analysing this story, you have to notice that she had a strategy which is a very important ingredient for growth. You can't go to war without weapons, why go into Green Business without believing in your products and what it stand to achieve.

Identify the goal, what is the objective and goal of the CCN program, if you read the brochure given to you, you will see in it, that we are helping the environment and helping low income earners. Also providing residual incomes to people. So you need to stop seeing yourself as a marketer, seller or trader and start seeing yourself as an agent of change.

Set weekly or daily target, this is very important in our pursuit of "PEAK ACHIEVEMENT". Always have it at the back of your mind, how many people do you plan to sign up daily or weekly. This will make you work harder and come up with better strategy.

Please practice all we have discussed, I guarantee you we will be getting better "Mama story".

Mark this in your calendar, "World Energy Day  October 22".

Have a great week, and don't forget to attend any of our seminars in any Green Centre closest to you.
